Shot by the Casino
26th November, 2007
A 23 year old Christopher Toppin of Phase Two, Powder Magazine, Cocorite, was killed yesterday during the argument outside the Spin and Win Casino.
Toppin was usually washing cars’ windscreens outside The Falls, in Westmall, but his death came to him outside the Spin and Win Casino, opposite Smokey and Bunty in St. James.
At about 5 a.m. on Sunday, the 25th of November, Chris Toppin was hanging out with his mates outside the casino. After some time the argument arose between him and the man, who did not wait too long to pull the gun out and shoot Toppin once straight in the head after which the suspect disappeared.
Christopher was taken to the hospital by the joint Police/Regiment patrol, but it was too late and the man was announced dead as soon as appeared in the hospital.
Now the investigation continues to find the man who took away the life of another man without a minute of hesitation before shooting. A team of officers from St James CID together with the Homicide Bureau have already investigated the crime scene and made necessary enquiries in order to be able to get closer to catching the guy.
Christopher’s death became 331st up to press time last year, which is an astonishing number and something that can’t be neglected. Guns are becoming more and more available, just recently proven by the black lad, who had his friend shot on the streets and demonstrated that he himself, who never got a gun before managed to get one in less than 2 days.
