Super Naomi Campbell Has A Super Plan to Kill the Endangered Turtles
14th September, 2007
Supermodel Naomi Campbell and her ex-boyfriend Flavio Briatore both decided that building a 6-star, 40 apartment grand casino, “The Billionaires Resort” in the small resort town of Malindi in the Indian Ocean is a great business idea. What they did not consider is the endangered marine life that has been preserved for years by the conservationists and local volunteers.
There are only two places where the green turtle, the hawksbill and the olive ridley come to lay their eggs: Watamu Bay and Malindi shore, exactly where the failed couple want to facilitate casino gambling activities to masses of drunken tourists.
Apart from the obvious contamination problems associated with the large numbers of casino guests, there are also some other unfortunate circumstances that will negatively and eventually fatally effect the turtles. These amazing creatures, like any other wild animals have their own way of communicating with each other and interpret the environment around them. One of the most important senses they rely on when directing themselves around waters is light. For example, if a baby turtle hatches at night their instincts tell them to follow the brightest light reflection, which in usual natural environment would be the horizon glowing due to the moonlight. And now imagine one of the Las Vegas casinos with their bright lights flashing out casino signs reflecting in the water.
The same way the wale ended up in Themes not so far ago because of the industrial sounds that confused the animal and led him straight to the grave; the turtles can end up walking away from the sea and never coming back because of the light disorientation just because some extremely rich model wants to get even richer.
The director of the Malindi Marine Association, Athman Seif explains:“This would have a very negative effect on turtle nesting and destroy years of careful project work.”
The “best” casino ever is also supposed to have a marine park, which will definitely intrude and effect the natural habitat of rare endangered species.
There already is a hotel casino in the resort called “The White Elephant” and the locals have been very stressed and unhappy about the construction and say that it has brought the type of audience they tried to avoid at all costs before.
The director of Local Ocean Trust, a marine conservation body, Stephen Trott said: Projects like this are in danger of destroying the very thing people come here to enjoy.”
Chairman of the local residents’ association, Terry Hill put it this way: “Our once-beautiful white sandy shore line is becoming one long line of concrete.”
There are many influences that have been transforming the beautiful paradise island into another one of those private parties for the rich and powerful.
“We would like to construct a six-star hotel targeting the top men in the world,” said the “ambitious” model. The best casino for the best men is it?
Well, maybe the lovely out of date model should start looking into some online casino options instead. She could probably send out diamond spoons as casino bonuses and diamond plates for friend referrals.
