Some slots are leaving Harrah’s

19th August, 2008

Many slots seem to be disappearing from the Harrah’s Casino, and many are speculating what the possible reason for this occurrence could be.

Well, it’s not a thief, so we can rule that one out, but others are questioning if it could be the result in a conflict of interest between Harrah’s entertainment and International Game Technology, the slot machine maker that provides many of the slots disappearing from Harrah’s Casino.

Others our realising that the real answer could merely be budgetary because Harrah’s, along with many other casino operators, do a lot of statistical research into how their game offerings are doing. When something underperforms, it is naturally given the axe – plain and simple.

“We try to offer our customers the games they like to play, which we determine through volume of play and regular surveys of our guests,” said Gary Thompson, Harrah’s spokesman.

Either way, Harrah’s latest actions to remove these slots from their gaming floor have made many of the slot-machine makers very nervous. However, many are saying that it’s simply a numbers game, a part of good business, and has nothing to do with their relationship with the companies.

“The experiment has given Harrah’s a significant amount of data to work with to make decisions on participation games in other markets,” McGill said. “With this in mind, we were not surprised to see Harrah’s pull out a significant number of Wheel of Fortune games.”
