Poker and casinos go cruising
10th December, 2007
Luxury cruise liner the Island Star is to host a regular No limit Texas hold 'em poker tournament next year, with a massive £20,000 winnings pot.
The ship's first specially-designed poker cruise will set sail March 28th and will see avid fans receiving first-class treatment over the week-long tournament.
In addition to receiving a 2,000 chip stack, players will get VIP treatment including champagne, luxury accommodation and special events - all from £949 for players and £499 for accompanying non-playing passengers.
Commenting on the cruise's unique theme - which will see endless hours of gaming as the ship rolls passed major holiday destinations such as Palma, Majorca, Marseille and Barcelona - Island Star singer Kelly Lomax told the Sun: "We're going to bring some Las Vegas glamour to the high seas."
An even more lavish ceremony will be also taking place today as the Duchess of Cornwall officially names Cunard's new luxury liner, the Queen Victoria.
The 1,000 ft long, 18-deck vessel boasts amenities including an 830-seat theatre, seven restaurants, three swimming pools, a library and of course a casino.
