Playtech's Mystery Deal With Asian Licensee
27th November, 2007
Playtech, one of the biggest online casino software providers, have stated that a new “significant” Asian licensee is in their hands after negotiations held earlier this week. The company did not release any important details “for the reasons of confidentiality”.
Playtech made a statement for the London Stock Exchange, where he explained that the license was obtained to create Asia-focused peer-to-peer games for a mystery operator, more likely here, in the UK. Playtech said that the license obtained has a “strong and diversified presence in the Asia-Pacific region.
According to Playtech, the contract is “material to the future profitability” of the company. They also added that the second quarter of 2008 is when the earnings are expected to really improve.
This is what Mor Weizer, Chief Executive Officer for Playtech had to say about the news: “This is a significant new business win for Playtech and comes after lengthy contract formalities with the licensee.”
Apparently the operator who will get the new games is very large and has got a wide customer base, which in terms should increase the stability of the country and make it more progressive, therefore giving it a good competitive edge.
“The additional tools and features that we have developed for this operator will further strengthen Playtech’s market-leading position in the vast Asia-Pacific market. This licensee has deep-rooted experience and market reach and we foresee additional benefits for Playtech, particularly for our new Asia-facing games, which we start rolling out over the next two quarters,” Weiser explained.
