7th March, 2008
Online bingo and casino games developer Playtech has revealed that it made record-high profits of over $100 million (£50 million) last year.
The popular software firm said total revenues rose 86 per cent to $103.6 million, primarily due to the expansion of its online poker services which raked in a massive 269 per cent increase in revenue.
Online casino gambling revenues also soared by 58 per cent, while growing popularity among operators for the firm's bingo services also contributed to the strong performance.
Playtech's non-executive chairman Roger Withers said he was pleased with last year's takings and he predicted another bumper year in 2008, noting that all of the firm's key performance indicators are currently ahead of target.
"We have had an excellent start to 2008 and the Board is highly confident of the Group's performance for 2008 and beyond and its ability to maintain our position as the world's leading provider of software solutions to the online gaming industry," Mr Withers remarked.
Playtech is one of the world's leading developers of online casino software and currently employs about 650 product development staff.
