Playboy club casino to reopen in London
14th July, 2008
27 years after the closure of the original Playboy Club, the bunny girls are set to return to London as the club to be reopened by 2010.
The Playboy empire, owned by Hugh Hefner, is said to be looking at two potential locations in London, including The Sports Cafe in Haymarket, which went into administration in January with reported debts if £10million.
The new Playboy club will offer gambling in the form of roulette wheels and blackjack tables amongst other casino games, also offering food. Should the plans get the go-ahead, the new-look Playboy casino club could be open as early as 2010.
The original club was should down in 1981 after a police raid regarding illegal suspect gambling, however no charges came about as a result. The Park Lane casino was officially the most profitable casino in the world at the time.
Since the original club, the Playboy group has exploded into a global phenomenon, with a Las Vegas Playboy club opened two years ago, which currently takes three times as much wagering per table when compared to other casinos in the city. Another casino is due to open in Macau, the gambling mecca of China, next year.
Executive vice-president of Playboy, Dick Rosenzweig, said: "We are looking for opportunities around the world. London will be logical for us. We had some very good years there."
For the online casino fans, Playboy Casino caters for those that may not be able to afford going to the real Playboy club, offering excellent promotions and one-off opportunities to play with the Playmates and party at the Playboy Mansion!
