Missouri casino opens to fireworks
20th December, 2007
A new casino, which has been built in downtown St Louis, Missouri, opened last night with a huge fireworks display.
Spectators flocked to watch the spectacular ceremony which was followed by a black tie launch party.
Costing more than $500 million (£251 million) to build, the new Lumiere Place casino complex was developed by Pinnacle Entertainment and is one of the most expensive projects the city has ever seen.
The casino has been built on 7.5 acres of land and was designed by Marnell Architecture – the same company which was responsible for the unique look of the world famous Bellagio in Las Vegas.
Its 75,000 square-foot gambling hall features 2,000 slot machines, more than 45 table games and a 13-table poker room.
Prior to the big opening, Lumiere Place general manager Todd George told the Associated Press: "The bricks and mortar are one thing. Our product is the experience people go away with."
