Millionaire plans casino for north Wales
19th December, 2007
A multi-millionaire is looking to establish a casino at a north Wales hotel if the government agrees to grant further licences, it has been reported.
Stephanie Booth, who owns Bryn Howell Hotel in Llangollen, is said to be applying for a license to house a casino within the building, according to the Daily Post.
Her decision follows a trial 'fun casino' which was piloted at the hotel and was said to be a big success.
So far the government has only granted 17 licenses to venues, which allow the owners to establish full-time casinos within.
Ms Booth told the newspaper: "Llangollen attracts over four million visitors a year and is only an hour's drive from major conurbations in the north-west and west Midlands, so has the makings of an ideal location for licensing a small casino.
"The success of this very small event at the Bryn Howell shows quite graphically there's both a market and a need for such a development in the area, so why not."
