Microgaming no longer support datamining
20th January, 2010
The online casino industry is still growing rapidly with companies in the industry constantly learning, developing and setting standards as they progress. With Microgaming at the top of their sector as far as software developers go, they clearly have an important role in not only providing what people expect, but to also set moral standards and ethics.
It is because of this that Microgaming has announced that they no longer support data mining within their company and with any of its licensed products.
For a long time, Datamining has been a standard procedure within the industry with software developers and online casino’s and what they measure is specifically a huge amount of data about all of the gameplay occurring within the sites. These include things such as hand histories within online poker, which in the wrong hands could provide an unfair advantage.
A huge concern was that third party software was mining this data and analyzing it in order to provide people with unfair benefits and due to third party software being hard to crack down on, the decision to remove datamining with Microgaming has been made.
Microgaming have made a promise to its players that this type of software has been ended with immediate effect.
