Kansas Lottery Commission postpones vote on casino operators
22nd May, 2008
Voting on the endorsement of contracts for casinos in Kansas, US has been postponed by the state's Lottery Commission until next week.
The commission decided to meet again next Tuesday (May 27th) to decide which of the 11 developers' pitches it will choose to become new operators of the casino gambling venues.
This is the deadline for signing contracts for those wanting to manage casinos in the counties of Cherokee, Wyandotte, Sumner and Ford.
For applicants to be approved, they have to meet legal state requirements, such as providing a minimum deposit of US$225 million and a US$25 million privilege fee in Cherokee, Wyandotte, Sumner.
The commission is able to endorse as many of the 11 proposals as it likes. Once it has made its decisions, the committee has to present them to the Kansas Lottery Gaming Facility Review Board. The board will then pick one proposal for each county.
It endorsed a contract with Penn National Gaming Inc, the only bidder for Cherokee County's fourth casino site, earlier this month.
