Kansas Casino to go smoke free
18th September, 2008
The US city of Kansas have recently outlawed smoking in indoor places. This however excludes private clubs and some casinos. Similar to the smoking ban in the UK Kansas has brought in a ban with the aim of putting people off smoking.
Gambling establishments all over the world have had to put up with new anti smoking laws and many casino's and bingo halls have faced closure because of dwindling visitors.
However some believe a few casinos will benefit form the ban. It's argued that all those who do not smoke will visit the casino imposing the ban. The casino industry in particular has not been majorly effected by the smoking ban in the UK however bingo halls have struggled to stay open. Gala Coral founder Rob Kelly said in a statement:
“This government over a period of many years has really not dealt with this sector well from either a legislative or a fiscal perspective,” Kelly said. “The Labour Government has not been helpful. Basically it has been a hard slog all the way.”
Online casino's and bingo have also heaped pressure on land based establishments with several traditional players opting to stay at home and play at their computer. This is seen by many as cheaper and easier.
Several sites also offer fantastic promotional offers which cannot be found at land based casino's. Sign up bonuses and loyalty reward programme are standard at online casino, and has resulted in thousands signing up to play.
