Hotel-casinos

2nd November, 2007

Atlantic City is now aiming to promote itself as a more fulfilling resort, rather than just a casino destination. Hotel casinos are thinking of ways to position themselves with a more holiday attraction feel to move away from a simple casino resort image in order to start earning profits during the first half of the day as well as the evenings.

Jeff Vasser, who runs the Atlantic City Convention & Visitors Authority said that the hotel packaged deals are becoming more popular, which is one4 of the reasons for the hotel management to start thinking of ways to get ahead of the competition through various attractions, that will be available from the morning, as most of the visitors spend their afternoons and evening betting and hoping to hit that lucky jackpot.

"Packages are what longer-term visitors seem to want," Vasser explains. "There is perceived value there, and I would say there is real value as well. In the summer months, we don't have to worry about it, since virtually every room is filled, In the fall and spring, though, we want to start attracting more people to stay over in the city."

The evident leader in the packaged holiday business, is the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, nevertheless during the cold seasons this year, they are only offering packaged holiday from Monday through to Thursday.

There are many different packages the resorts are offering to suit different market segments and to target them more effectively in their promotional campaigns.

Wake up Smiling is one of the options, which includes a room and a breakfast buffet at $179 per two guests per one night.

Best of the Bay is an option in the neighboring Triumph marina Hotel Casino, which costs $179 per night per two for a deluxe, bay-view room, two cocktails and a $50 dining credit in the hotel restaurant.

The offers are similar in other casino-hotel resorts and they all mainly run through to November. They have various free additions to the standard packages, such as discounts in gift shops and complimentary cocktails.

Slowly but surely the casino-hotel resorts are trying to find more activities to entertain their customers, such as a complimentary tickets to comedy shows with tickets, like Night of Laughs Comedy Stop Package from $52 per person per night with a standard Tropicana room, two drinks and tickets to stand-up comedy!

Vasser is looking forward to improving the service: "We're going to do more things as the spring comes. There will be golf packages and spa packages. I am sure there will be shopping packages with gift certificates from . . . the Walk outlets or the Pier at Caesars. Some things are new to Atlantic City, but we have to embrace them, and packages are what people are now looking for."
