Leading online software developer CryptoLogic has achieved another first in the online casino industry by releasing a 3D slot version of the arcade game Street Fighter II.

First exploding onto the gaming scene 21 years ago, Street Fighter laid the foundations for generation after generation of arcade fighting games by pitting opponents against each other in mortal combat.

Having sold over 24 million console games and 500,000 coin-operated arcade units, copyright owners Capcom have finally decided the title is ready for the slot machine market, authorising the release of the casino-facing version.

"CryptoLogic delivers unique games that engage and entertain players around the world - and our latest casino games demonstrate our deep commitment to the player experience," commented the developer's president and chief executive Brian Hadfield.

He added: "Just as Street Fighter profoundly changed the world of video games, CryptoLogic innovations are profoundly changing the world of Internet casinos - for the benefit of customers and players alike."

The Street Fighter II casino game has been released alongside six other new titles, including Roamin' Gnome, Movie Mayhem and Dad's Day In.
