Golden Palace Online Casino Pleaded Guilty

30th November, 2007

Golden Palace Online Casino, a very well-known and popular online casino operator in UK, has pled guilty yesterday in court and was charged because of the illegal gambling in Quebec, Canada.

French language radio station reported that the online casino pled guilty two both charges of illegal gambling, which means, the site now will have to pay $2 million fine for their wrongdoings.

Cyber Group World is licensed by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission that is operated from the native Mahawk land in Canada. There is a large number of other online casinos that have the same license and run from the same area. 60% of all online gambling traffic is due to the Kahnawake operators.

The representatives for the native Mahawk land feel they are rightfully allowed to give out online casino licenses due to the operators. Their argument is based around the section 35 of the Canadian Constitution, which states that native Indian rights are protected.

A Mohawk representative, Joe Delaronde, told CBC News that there are currently around 400 licenses issued by the Kahnawake government and all of them are well respected worldwide as a guarantee that the operators under the license provide fair and properly regulating licensing system.

As Canada declared that the only licenses that are recognized by the country are the ones issued by provincial government, Golden Palace Casino, which headquarters are situated just outside of Mohawk territory in Canada, had to get charged for illegal online gambling.
