Estefan to play casino's new theatre

Pop star Gloria Estefan is to open the new MGM Grand Theatre at Foxwoods Resort Casino in the US, the casino has announced.
The singer, famous for her hits with the Miami Sound Machine and as a soloist, will headline the grand opening which will take place from May 23rd to May 25th.
Also on the bill will be 80s pop sensation Cyndi Lauper, as well as the Steve Miller Band with Joe Cocker at the 4,000-capacity theatre.
Judy Alberti, vice president of entertainment at Foxwoods, told Courant.com it was an exciting step up in terms of the entertainment offerings at the casino saying they could compete with the nearby Mohegan Sun.
"I think it puts us in a league where we're able to compete with them for a good portion of the acts that they present, because even though we have fewer seats, we have a more intimate experience, which the acts like as well," she said.
Foxwoods comprises six casinos, which boast more than 7,000 slot machines and 400 tables.
