Crowe bans gambling machines from club

The Aussie star, who runs the club along with millionaire pal Peter Holmes a Court, have been given permission to rid the club of the 160 slot machines currently housed there.
More than AU$1 million (£430,000) is collected by the slots on an annual basis, highlighting the popularity of gambling and casino-style games in Australia.
Speaking to a local radio station, businessman Mr Holmes a Court said: "We put a proposal for a family-friendly club, an inclusive club, one that would make the current members of the club, the people who've been going there for years, happy, but also the new residents."
He added: "Increase in members will happen."
In a letter to club members sent in November, he and Crowe wrote that they were "not moralising here" but that they "just believe that low-income areas like Redfern need less poker machines rather than more".
