23rd May, 2008
The treasurer for Massachusetts, US has asserted that casinos will one day open in the state.
Tim Cahill believes that it is "inevitable" that casino gambling projects will be launched in Massachusetts but has warned that they must be carried out properly, the Boston Herald reported.
Speaking to at a Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce breakfast meeting, he said: "Its an issue that is not going to go away, because they are part of so many states around the country."
Mr Cahill has been looking at the US state of Connecticut for casino inspiration, as well as more further afield places such as Singapore.
He noted that casinos can help to boost the local economy, something which the Singapore government has realised.
"The Singapore government understood that it was missing an opportunity. I think theyve been done right."
