Casino Magnate dies at 90
23rd October, 2007
Lim Goh Tong, the third richest man in Malaysia, who transformed a hilltop that was covered in trees into the amazing luxury and extremely popular casino resort, has passed away this Tuesday gone, after walking the earth for 90 years. The stress of running such a successful business haven’t projected on his health it seems.
Now he is gone, there is an astonishing $22 billion business empire left behind. His son, who became Genting’s chef executive in 2004, Lim Kok Thay, stated that his father “passed away peacefully” and chose to say nothing more to add. It seems that everyone is going to miss him. Even Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, had a lot of grief about the loss, as he portrayed him as a hardworking and responsible entrepreneur, who has helped the country’s economic growth. "He is also a well-known philanthropist. I believe his death is a loss not only to the nation but also to the business and entrepreneurial community in the country," he added.
