Canadian Poker Championships announced

Global media company HeadsUp Entertainment this week announced the 2008 Canadian Open Poker Championships.
The tournament will take place at the Deefoot Inn and Casino in Calgary, Alberta, from March 5th to 9th 2008, and will feature five different events with a total estimated prize pool in the region of CDN$1.3 million (£650,000).
Kelly Kellner, president and chief executive of HeadsUp Entertainment, said: "We are excited to be hosting this event in Calgary at the Deerfoot Casino.
"Our last event attracted a world class field of competitors such as Antonio 'The Magician' Esfandiari, Andy Bloch, Nenand Medic and Huck Seed, World Series of Poker Main Event winner from 1996, as well as Canadian pros Greg 'FBT' Mueller and 'Yukon' Brad Booth."
Poker players will compete in a range of events including a charity freezout tournament with a CDN$500 buy-in - with five per cent of the prize pool going to Breast Cancer Research - and a CDN $1,500 buy-in short handed tournament with up to 200 players.
The main event will be a CDN$5,000 buy-in, heads up tournament with a maximum of 128 players, including some of the biggest names in the business. It will be televised around the world.
