Bodog chief calls it a day

Calvin Ayre, founder of Bodog online casinos, has confirmed he intends to retire after having sold off most of his empire.
The multi-millionaire has progressively scaled back his involvement in the Bodog name, serving as little more than a public face for the casino company by espousing a luxurious playboy-lifestyle.
Ayre sold the North American brand of Bodog to Kahnawake-based Morris Mohawk Gaming Group, based near the Canadian city of Montreal, while the operator's European and African divisions will handed over to an unspecified operational team.
That interim body will also follow up on the company's well-publicised plans to expand in the South American casino gambling market.
Despite enjoying support among many in industry, Ayre attracted a significant amount of controversy during his stewardship of Bodog - most notably for allegedly flouting the country's 2006 Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement bill.
He also raised eyebrows for his personal lifestyle, gaining a reputation for travelling with a squad of 'Bodog girls' on his numerous tropical holidays.
